Simone Martini
Choice #3:
3. Simone Martini (1284 – 1344) was a major figure in the development of early Italian painting and greatly influenced the development of the International Gothic style. Very little documentation survives regarding Simone's life, and many attributions are debated by art historians. Most of his work depicts scenes from the four Gospels as well as portraits of important figures of the time.
Exekias
Choice #2:
2. Exekias was a Greek vase painter and potter, who worked between approximately 550 BC - 525 BC in Athens. His technique mostly included black figure paintings on red clay. Sixteen signed works by Exekias have survived, while many more have been attributed to him by stylistic comparison. He was an innovator for new shapes and patterns in his time. "Group E" was a style that has been attributed from coming from the works of Exekias to which he himself worked as a craftsmen for some time. Most of Exekias work depicts major scenes of ancient Greek legends.
